Lake Charles, LA – The US National Weather Service in Lake Charles says a warming trend will continue through Saturday as southerly winds off the Gulf bring higher humidity and mild temperatures across southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas.
Highs are expected to range from the upper 70s to upper 80s through the end of the week, with morning fog possible Wednesday and Thursday due to increased moisture. While the air will feel more humid, no significant rainfall is expected during this period.
Forecasters warn of a sharp Canadian cold front set to arrive Sunday, bringing unseasonably cold temperatures into early next week. Highs will fall into the 50s and 60s, with overnight lows dropping into the 30s by Monday night into Tuesday morning. Portions of central Louisiana and upper southeast Texas could see their first light freeze of the season.
Residents are advised to monitor forecasts, especially those with sensitive vegetation or outdoor pets, as next week’s cold spell may require freeze precautions for the first time this fall.
