Lake Charles, LA – A flood watch remains in effect for Southwest and South Central Louisiana through 1 p.m. Saturday, as persistent rainfall continues to raise the risk of localized street flooding in cities including Lake Charles, Lafayette, and Jennings.

According to the National Weather Service Lake Charles office, the area could receive between 1 to 2 inches of rain, with isolated pockets seeing up to 3 inches. The flood watch was slightly scaled back Saturday morning but still includes several parishes at risk for heavy rainfall and poor drainage flooding.

Communities across the region have been dealing with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms since early Saturday. Flash flooding is possible, particularly in low-lying or urban areas where efficient rainfall rates may overwhelm drainage systems.

Motorists are advised to avoid flooded roadways and monitor local alerts. Outdoor plans should be adjusted accordingly, with additional rainfall expected to taper off later this afternoon.

The seven-day forecast shows reduced chances of precipitation beginning Sunday, with only slight rain chances returning midweek. Daytime highs will stay in the low to mid-80s, with overnight lows dipping into the 60s.

Residents are encouraged to remain weather aware and prepared as conditions evolve throughout the day.
