Lake Charles, La. – Major flooding is expected along the Calcasieu River this weekend, with water levels projected to crest at 6.5 feet by Sunday, threatening key roadways and homes near White Oak Park. Drivers and residents in low-lying areas should prepare for road closures and possible evacuations as water levels rise.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, the river is currently at 5.5 feet and will continue rising, reaching the moderate flood stage on Saturday morning. At 8 feet, water will completely cover Goos Ferry Road and flood homes near the river. A River Flood Warning remains in effect, and residents are urged to monitor local updates.

Temperatures will climb steadily next week, bringing highs in the upper 80s to low 90s starting Tuesday. North winds tonight will keep overnight lows in the mid-50s, but warmer, drier conditions are on the horizon, which should help ease further flood risks.

Motorists should avoid flooded roadways and secure belongings in flood-prone areas. Cooler weather remains through Monday, but daytime highs will rise sharply by midweek, signaling the start of a summer-like pattern.

Warnings remain in effect through Sunday, with additional updates expected as river levels approach their peak.
