Baton Rouge, LA – An off-duty Louisiana State Trooper faces battery charges following an incident during the LSU vs UCLA football game on Saturday.

According to the Louisiana State Police, Trooper Artellus Bellard, 30, was allegedly involved in a disturbance at the game. Law enforcement responded to the scene after reports of a physical altercation in the stands between Bellard and two male spectators. Officials revealed that Bellard allegedly initiated the altercation after a verbal argument escalated.

Bellard, who has served in Troop D Patrol since 2021, was charged with two counts of simple battery. He was issued a summons and is awaiting a court date. Authorities have not released further details about the case, stating that the criminal and administrative processes are still underway.

The incident occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m., sparking significant attention at the crowded game. No injuries have been reported at this time, and officials are expected to provide updates as the investigation continues.
