Louisiana – A tornado watch is in effect for much of Louisiana until 9 p.m. CDT this evening as severe storms continue to develop across the state. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued the alert for a wide swath of parishes, including Lafayette, Shreveport, and Alexandria, as conditions remain favorable for the formation of tornadoes.

According to the NWS Storm Prediction Center, the affected areas span from the Texas border to central Louisiana, impacting more than 25 parishes. The watch includes regions such as Acadia, Avoyelles, Caddo, Claiborne, and Vernon, among others. These parishes are under heightened risk for severe weather, including damaging winds, large hail, and the potential for tornadoes.

Travel disruptions are possible, especially in rural areas, where roads may become hazardous due to severe storms and low visibility. Residents should remain alert, stay indoors during severe weather, and have a plan in place for seeking shelter if a tornado warning is issued. Keep devices charged, monitor local weather updates, and avoid travel unless necessary.

The watch is set to expire at 9 p.m. CDT, but additional warnings or updates could be issued depending on the evolution of the storms.
