Shreveport, Louisiana – Scorching heat returns to northwest Louisiana on Wednesday, bringing heat index values up to 109°F and raising serious health risks across Shreveport and surrounding parishes.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a Heat Advisory remains in effect Wednesday, June 25, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. CDT. The advisory covers parts of southern Arkansas, east Texas, southeast Oklahoma, and much of north and central Louisiana — including Caddo, Bossier, Lincoln, and Union Parishes. Daytime highs will hit 96°F with heat index values well above 105°F, increasing the risk of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

Local impacts will be most intense along major corridors such as Interstate 20 and I-49, where pavement heat can intensify exposure. Residents are urged to stay in air-conditioned spaces, avoid outdoor work during peak afternoon hours, and check on vulnerable neighbors and pets.

Conditions remain stagnant with little overnight relief expected through Friday. Winds stay calm, and humidity levels remain high, compounding the discomfort. Storm chances return briefly by the weekend, but temps stay locked in the mid-to-upper 90s.
