Shreveport, Louisiana – After a dry and warm Sunday, springtime weather in northwest Louisiana is about to turn stormy, and drivers should plan ahead.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, Sunday will bring sunshine and highs near 88°F with light south winds between 5 and 10 mph. But starting Monday afternoon, moisture and instability return, leading to multiple days of potential showers and thunderstorms.
Rain chances climb to 40 percent by Monday afternoon, increasing to 50 percent Tuesday and Wednesday. The risk of thunderstorms continues each day through at least Thursday, with Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon being key periods for heavier rainfall. Low-lying areas and drivers along I-20 and U.S. Highway 71 should be alert for reduced visibility and wet pavement.
