Shreveport, LA – A wet and unsettled spring pattern will return to northwest Louisiana on Thursday, with Shreveport expecting showers and a 70% chance of rain by nightfall.

According to the National Weather Service, a weak disturbance will increase rain chances beginning Thursday night, continuing through Friday morning. The most immediate concern for residents is slippery road conditions along Interstate 20 and reduced visibility during evening commutes.

Thursday will start mostly cloudy with daytime highs near 79°F. Light southeast winds around 10 mph will precede increasing cloud cover and a 30% chance of rain by evening. Rain chances will sharply rise overnight, peaking at 70% by early Friday. Thunderstorms may also develop, especially in the early morning hours, with possible lightning and brief heavy downpours.

Friday remains unsettled, with showers and storms likely in the afternoon. Temperatures will reach the low 70s before dipping into the 60s overnight. Rain activity could taper off slightly by Saturday.

Looking ahead, the five-day forecast shows on-and-off spring rain through Monday:

  • Saturday: Partly sunny, high near 82°F.
  • Sunday: 40% chance of storms, high near 87°F.
  • Monday: 20% chance of rain, high near 77°F.
