Lake Charles, La. – A surge of summerlike heat is on the way for southern Louisiana and southeast Texas, with temperatures forecast to push into the mid-90s by midweek — especially in areas like Alexandria, Jasper, and Lake Charles.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, a warming trend will kick in Monday evening and peak between Tuesday and Thursday. Cities across Southwest Louisiana (SWLA) and Southeast Texas (SETX), including Beaumont, De Ridder, and Lafayette, are expected to see highs between 91°F and 95°F. The heat will be paired with mainly dry skies, raising concerns about hydration and heat safety.

In Alexandria, Wednesday’s projected high is 95°F — one of the warmest so far this spring. Lake Charles, Jennings, and Leesville could reach 93°F by Thursday. Overnight lows will hover in the 70s, offering limited relief.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heat, drink water regularly, and check on vulnerable neighbors. With high pressure building, rain chances remain low into next weekend, increasing the risk for minor drought stress and outdoor fire hazards.

This early-season heat pattern is expected to linger into next week. Additional advisories may be issued if temperatures continue to rise.
