Shreveport, LA – Temperatures in northwest Louisiana are set to plummet tonight, with a Freeze Warning in effect for areas along the I-20 corridor. Residents should prepare for freezing conditions starting at midnight, lasting through 9 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Shreveport.

The cold weather could damage unprotected crops, outdoor plants, and plumbing. The NWS advises bringing pets indoors and covering exposed vegetation. Black Friday shoppers heading out early should expect lows around 32°F and dress warmly to avoid the freezing temperatures.

Friday will bring a reprieve, with sunny skies and a high near 56°F. Northeast winds of up to 5 mph will keep the chill in the air. Friday night is expected to drop to 32°F again, prompting continued caution for frost-sensitive areas.

The weekend forecast offers milder conditions. Saturday brings mostly sunny skies with a high near 61°F and an overnight low of 36°F. Sunday will stay sunny, with highs reaching 60°F, though temperatures could dip to freezing again overnight.

The chilly weather signals a shift into winter for northwest Louisiana. Drivers should remain cautious of icy patches early Friday morning, particularly on bridges and overpasses.

Be sure to prepare for tonight’s cold snap and plan accordingly for the week ahead.
