Shreveport, LA – A freeze warning remains in effect through Saturday morning, prompting residents along I-20 and surrounding areas to prepare for sub-freezing overnight temperatures. Forecast lows are expected to dip into the mid-to-upper 20s, creating a risk for frost-sensitive vegetation and unprotected plumbing.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, the warning will last until 9 a.m. Saturday. Residents are urged to cover plants, insulate exposed pipes, and bring outdoor pets inside to protect them from the cold. Areas such as Bossier City, Monroe, and Longview, Texas, will also experience freezing conditions, with temperatures remaining just below freezing through sunrise.

Looking ahead, Saturday offers a reprieve with sunny skies and highs near 59 degrees. The mild trend continues into Sunday, with highs climbing to 61 degrees and clear conditions at night. By midweek, a 20% chance of showers enters the forecast, leading to potential thunderstorms and higher rain chances by Wednesday and Thursday.

Drivers along the I-20 corridor should remain cautious of frost early Saturday and plan accordingly. This is a good time to check heating systems and ensure proper insulation ahead of colder nights expected later in December.
