Lake Charles, LA – A freeze warning remains in effect for the region this morning as temperatures dip below freezing across much of southwest Louisiana. Wind chills in the teens are making it feel even colder, with dangerous conditions for exposed skin, pets, and unprotected vegetation.

According to the National Weather Service, the warning will last until 10 a.m. today, with temperatures as low as 29°F expected. Wind chills could fall as low as 17°F in some areas, including along the I-10 corridor. Residents are urged to cover exposed pipes, bring pets indoors, and dress in layers if venturing outside.

Temperatures are expected to improve slightly during the day, reaching a high of 44°F under sunny skies. Tonight, another freeze is forecast, with lows near 28°F and widespread frost expected after 11 p.m. Tuesday morning will bring another frosty start before highs climb into the mid-40s under sunny skies.

Looking ahead, temperatures will remain cold through midweek. Wednesday’s forecast includes a high near 46°F, while Thursday may see a slight warming trend with highs near 48°F but a 50% chance of rain. Rain chances increase to 80% Thursday night, with lows around 37°F.

As frigid weather continues, residents are encouraged to monitor vulnerable neighbors and stay informed through local forecasts. Be prepared to take precautions for several nights of freezing temperatures.
