Lake Charles, LA – Flood warnings remain in effect across parts of Louisiana and Texas as the Calcasieu and Sabine rivers continue to rise, with minor flooding expected in multiple areas through early next week.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Lake Charles, the Calcasieu River near Oberlin is forecast to crest at 13.2 feet Friday morning before falling below flood stage by the afternoon. The river near Glenmora, currently at 13.5 feet, is expected to remain above flood stage until Monday evening.
Meanwhile, the Sabine River near Deweyville remains in a prolonged flood stage, holding steady at 24.8 feet as of Thursday night. NWS reports indicate that floodwaters are affecting low-lying roads in southwest Beauregard Parish and northeastern Orange County, Texas, with some roads near Niblett Bluff Park cut off.
