SHREVEPORT, LA – Residents across northwest Louisiana and east Texas face heightened tornado risks this evening as a severe weather system sweeps through the region.
A tornado watch is in effect until 8 p.m. for several parishes in Louisiana, including Natchitoches, Sabine, and Vernon, as well as Texas counties such as Nacogdoches, Liberty, and Hardin. The National Weather Service warns of potential tornadoes, damaging wind gusts, and large hail as a line of strong thunderstorms develops across the area.
According to the NWS Storm Prediction Center, scattered storms will intensify into the evening, posing a significant threat along Interstate 20 and surrounding areas. Residents should remain vigilant, have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts, and know their nearest safe shelter location in case warnings are issued.
Forecast for the Week Ahead
Beyond tonight’s storms, cooler temperatures are expected. Tuesday morning lows will drop to around 50°F in Shreveport and surrounding areas, with highs only reaching the mid-60s. Tuesday’s skies will clear, offering a reprieve before another potential rain system moves in on Thursday.
Wednesday will remain mild, with highs near 70°F and mostly sunny skies, but Thursday may bring a 40% chance of showers. The rest of the week will see lows hovering in the mid-40s, offering a stark contrast to today’s humid and stormy conditions.
