Los Angeles, CA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for portions of Southern California until 10 p.m. Thursday, bringing snow and gusty winds to mountain regions, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Los Angeles.
The advisory covers the Interstate 5 Corridor, the Northern and Southern Ventura County Mountains, the Santa Barbara County Interior Mountains, and the Western and Eastern San Gabriel Mountains. Additional snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are expected above 5,000 feet, with 1 to 4 inches possible between 3,500 and 5,000 feet. Higher elevations, particularly above 7,000 feet, could see locally up to 8 inches of snow. Winds may reach gusts of up to 50 mph in some areas.
According to the NWS, the hazardous conditions will impact travel, particularly along major routes such as Interstate 5 and Highway 14. Motorists should prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility. The morning and evening commutes may be especially challenging in affected regions.
Drivers are advised to slow down and use caution while traveling. Road conditions can be checked by dialing 511. The NWS recommends preparing for winter driving conditions and delaying unnecessary travel where possible.
