Los Angeles, CA – A powerful winter storm is set to bring heavy snow and strong winds to the mountains of Southern California from Wednesday afternoon through Friday morning, making travel hazardous.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard, the storm could drop 12 to 24 inches of snow above 6,500 feet, with 6 to 12 inches expected at elevations between 5,500 and 7,000 feet. Lower elevations, including areas as low as 3,000 feet, may see up to an inch of snow. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph, increasing the risk of falling tree branches and power outages.
The affected areas include the Santa Barbara County Interior Mountains, Ventura County Mountains, the Interstate 5 Corridor, and the San Gabriel Mountains. Locations such as Mount Baldy, Wrightwood, Gorman, and Lockwood Valley could experience the brunt of the storm.
