Little Rock, Ark. – Much of Arkansas is baking under a major heat advisory this week, with dangerously high temperatures pushing the heat index up to 110°F through 9 p.m. Friday, especially across the eastern and southern parts of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, heat advisories are in effect for over half the state, including Little Rock, Pine Bluff, Jonesboro, and El Dorado. Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 90s daily, with humidity making it feel significantly hotter. Areas like Brinkley, Monticello, and West Memphis are under the greatest heat risk due to limited overnight cooling and prolonged exposure.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity between noon and 6 p.m., stay hydrated, and wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing. The NWS also recommends using air conditioning whenever possible, as fans alone may not provide adequate cooling during peak heat hours.

With hot, stagnant conditions in place, brief afternoon showers or isolated storms may pop up but won’t offer sustained relief. This pattern is expected to linger through the end of the week.

More advisories may be issued if temperatures rise further. Stay tuned to local updates and take heat illness symptoms seriously.
