Des Moines, IA – Light snowfall will move through Iowa tonight, with accumulation expected to remain under one inch. Forecasters predict little to no travel impacts as temperatures stay cold.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Des Moines, snow chances are around 20-30% tonight. Low temperatures will range from 17 to 23 degrees, with northwest winds blowing at 10-20 mph.

Snowfall will taper off by Friday morning, leaving mostly cloudy skies. Friday’s high temperatures will hover between 26 and 31 degrees, with lighter winds maintaining a chilly feel.

Another round of light snow is possible late Saturday night. Snow accumulations will again remain minimal, under one inch, and travel impacts will be minimal. Temperatures will rise slightly to highs of 30-32 degrees during the day, while south winds increase to 10-20 mph.

Sunday will bring breezy northwest winds gusting up to 25-30 mph. Daytime highs will range between 24 and 34 degrees. NWS forecasts colder conditions at the start of next week, with temperatures dropping further.

Residents should remain cautious of slick spots on roads and sidewalks despite minimal snow accumulations. The NWS advises preparing for gusty conditions and staying updated on any forecast changes.
