Quad Cities, IA – Residents across northeast Missouri and western Illinois should prepare for light snow and potentially hazardous road conditions through Friday morning. Snowfall is expected to accumulate up to one inch in areas south of Burlington, Iowa, to Princeton, Illinois, impacting early commuters.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will continue through Friday morning with some areas experiencing short periods of freezing drizzle. Untreated roadways and reduced visibility are likely, particularly in areas along the Galesburg to Kahoka line. Drivers should reduce speeds and use extra caution to avoid accidents on slick surfaces.

The snow is forecast to taper off by Friday afternoon, but freezing temperatures will linger, with highs near 30°F and northwest winds of 5 to 10 mph. This pattern sets the stage for another round of light snow late Saturday into Sunday. Accumulations of up to two inches are possible by Sunday morning, with the highest amounts expected north of Highway 30.

Looking ahead, the five-day forecast indicates mostly sunny skies by Monday, with daytime highs remaining in the teens to low 30s. Overnight lows will drop into single digits, increasing the risk of icy roads each morning.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated on local weather conditions and prepare for rapidly changing travel hazards. Monitor forecasts for updates and allow extra time when traveling.
