Lincoln, IL – Central Illinois residents will experience another round of hot, late summer weather, with temperatures staying between 88 and 93 degrees through Friday. The warm spell will linger until early next week when cooler air is expected.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a weak frontal boundary may bring isolated showers late Thursday night into Friday. However, meaningful rain is unlikely until Sunday or Monday. Temperatures are forecast to fall back into the 70s by Monday as the system moves through.

NWS meteorologists advise people to stay hydrated and take precautions during the ongoing heat. The hot weather is typical for this time of year, though residents are eagerly anticipating the cooler fall temperatures.

Rain chances will increase late Sunday, bringing much-needed moisture to the region. The arrival of fall-like weather could provide relief from the current heatwave, offering a preview of the upcoming season.
