Duluth, MN – Residents in northern Minnesota should prepare for light snow and breezy conditions today through the weekend, with lake-effect snow particularly impacting areas near Lake Superior and the South Shore. Travelers along Highway 61 and other key roadways should anticipate slippery conditions, especially Friday and Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service, lake-effect snow could accumulate up to 8 inches in some parts of northern Iron County by Friday evening. Duluth is expected to see occasional light flurries, with highs ranging from the low 20s to mid-20s through Sunday. Overnight lows will dip into the low teens, and wind chills could make it feel significantly colder.

For Black Friday shoppers, early morning travel may be breezy but largely dry, with gusts reaching up to 25 mph. Saturday and Sunday will remain mostly cloudy, with additional snow possible along the South Shore. This persistent lake-effect system could lead to periodic snowfall in the region, with some localized areas receiving higher totals.

Looking ahead, Monday offers a brief reprieve, with partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 20s, before another chance of snow arrives by Tuesday. Residents are advised to monitor forecasts for updates and use caution when driving on snow-covered roads.

Stay informed and prioritize safety by checking road conditions and avoiding unnecessary travel during snowy periods.
