According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, the heaviest snow accumulations will occur in lakeshore counties, including Muskegon and Ottawa, where 3 to 5 inches are expected through tonight. Snow showers will taper off by Thursday morning, but icy patches may persist on untreated surfaces.
Temperatures will hover around 23°F today, with wind chills making it feel as low as 16°F. Tonight, lows will drop to 16°F under mostly cloudy skies. Thursday offers a brief reprieve, with partly sunny conditions and highs reaching 28°F, but snow returns Friday with a 70% chance of showers.
Residents should allow extra travel time and ensure vehicles are winter-ready. Pedestrians should watch for slippery sidewalks. The weekend will see continued cold with highs near 30°F and intermittent snow showers Saturday and Sunday.
