Buffalo, NY – A Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in place for portions of Western New York, with heavy snowfall expected to persist through Monday evening.
The National Weather Service has forecast snowfall totals ranging from 3 to over 4 feet in the most affected areas, including Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie Counties. The heaviest accumulation is expected in western Chautauqua County and Southern Erie County.
According to the advisory, hazardous travel conditions will continue, with deep snow on roadways and visibility reduced to near zero in the heaviest snow bands. The Friday evening commute is already being significantly impacted, and officials are urging caution for anyone on the roads.
Travelers are advised to delay trips if possible or use extreme caution, leaving extra time to reach destinations. The NWS emphasized the need for preparedness due to rapidly changing conditions within narrow snow bands.
The warning is set to remain in effect until 7 p.m. EST Monday. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates and report snowfall amounts via social media or the NWS website.
