Milwaukee, WI – Southeastern Wisconsin will experience snowy and frigid conditions Sunday night into Monday morning as lake effect snow bands develop. Forecasters are urging caution for residents near Lake Michigan, particularly along the I-94 corridor, as visibility may rapidly decrease during snow bursts.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Milwaukee, north/northeast winds could produce narrow snow bands capable of dropping over an inch per hour in localized areas. This snowfall could coincide with plunging temperatures, creating icy roadways and hazardous travel conditions. Affected areas include Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha counties. Drivers should plan ahead and allow extra time for commutes Monday morning.

Sunday will begin sunny but cold, with highs near 22°F. Wind chills will range from -5°F to 5°F, making it feel much colder. By Sunday evening, snow chances increase, especially along the lakeshore, with snow accumulation projected to begin after midnight.

Looking ahead, the chill will continue into next week. Monday’s high will reach only 29°F, with gusty winds making it feel even colder. Tuesday and Wednesday will remain dry but bitterly cold, with highs in the low 20s and wind chills near zero.

Residents are advised to prepare for rapidly changing weather conditions, monitor local updates, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Motorists should equip vehicles with emergency supplies, as winter hazards could develop quickly.
