Fort Wayne, IN – A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Northern Indiana from Sunday evening through Monday night. Snowfall could impact commutes, with up to six inches possible in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), lake effect snow showers will continue tonight with minimal accumulation. However, a more substantial system will arrive Sunday, bringing widespread snow across southern portions of the region. Areas along and south of US Route 24 could see the heaviest snowfall, coupled with gusty winds of 20-25 mph, creating difficult travel conditions.

The storm is expected to develop Sunday afternoon and intensify overnight into Monday morning. Temperatures will drop significantly, with highs in the low 20s and wind chills near single digits by midweek.

Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and plan accordingly. The NWS warns that travel could be hazardous, particularly during the Monday morning commute. Snowfall probabilities are highest near cities like Rochester and Marion.
