Albany, NY – Freezing temperatures and lake-effect snow showers are set to impact areas west of the Hudson River today, with wind chills making conditions feel even colder. Residents can expect temperatures in the teens and single digits, with snow accumulation under two inches.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Albany, the high temperature today will hover near 27°F but will feel much colder due to northwest winds gusting up to 26 mph. Motorists on local roadways, including Interstate 87, should be cautious as slick conditions are possible throughout the morning and evening commutes.
The bitter cold continues Thursday, with a high of 28°F under mostly cloudy skies. Winds are expected to calm, but a slight chance of snow showers after midnight could result in light accumulation. Friday looks to be sunnier and more stable, with a high of 34°F and minimal winds.
By Saturday, warmer temperatures near 39°F will bring a likelihood of rain showers in the afternoon, followed by snow mixing in overnight as temperatures dip to 27°F. Sunday sees a return to colder conditions, with highs around 32°F and a continued chance of snow showers.
Residents should dress in layers and limit outdoor exposure, especially during the coldest hours. Keep an emergency kit in your car if traveling, as conditions can change quickly.
