Gaylord, MI – Snowfall is set to return to northern Michigan on Friday, bringing light accumulations and potential travel hazards on key roadways like I-75. The National Weather Service forecasts widespread snow starting in the afternoon, with up to an inch expected in most areas.

According to the US National Weather Service in Gaylord, snow will begin Friday afternoon and persist into Saturday morning. Travelers should be cautious as roads may become slippery, particularly during lake effect snow showers Friday night. Temperatures will remain cold, ranging from highs near 25°F to lows around 16°F.

Friday night’s snow could accumulate to an inch or less, with reduced visibility during peak snowfall. Winds from the south will remain light, but drivers should still allow extra time for commutes. Saturday morning will see lingering snow showers, tapering off by the afternoon.

Looking ahead, Sunday brings another round of heavier snow, with an 80% chance of accumulation beginning after 1 p.m. Highs will remain in the mid-20s, with snow likely to intensify Sunday night into Monday. Road conditions could deteriorate further as accumulation increases.

Residents are encouraged to clear driveways and sidewalks early to prevent ice buildup. Travelers should also prepare for potential delays and monitor road conditions through the Michigan Department of Transportation.
