Kroger Bomb Threat in Monticello, IN: Police Respond Swiftly

Monticello, IN – A Monticello Kroger was evacuated Thursday morning following a bomb threat. The Monticello Police Department responded to the call at approximately 9:53 a.m.

According to Monticello Police Chief Travis Clark, Kroger management initiated the evacuation of shoppers and employees as police arrived. The Tippecanoe County and Indiana State Police bomb squads, along with a Purdue University Police Department K9 unit, were called to the scene.

After a thorough sweep of the store, authorities determined there was no explosive device. “The scene was deemed safe, and Kroger was reopened at 12:30 p.m. for normal business,” Chief Clark said.

No suspects have been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing. Monticello residents expressed relief at the quick resolution and resumption of normal activities at the local Kroger.
