Paducah, KY – Slippery conditions continue Monday morning across portions of western Kentucky, making travel dangerous as icy roads and bridges remain a concern. A winter weather advisory is in effect until noon, with light snow and ice accumulations contributing to hazardous conditions.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), gusty winds up to 30 mph may also result in downed limbs and power lines. Drivers are urged to reduce speed and allow extra travel time, especially on major routes such as Interstate 24.

The advisory also warns of a bitter Arctic blast sweeping through the region. Temperatures are expected to drop into the teens Monday night, with wind chills falling into the single digits. These freezing conditions could persist through midweek.

Residents should prepare for potential power outages and limit outdoor activities to avoid frostbite or hypothermia. Precautionary actions include keeping devices charged, securing emergency kits, and monitoring local road updates via GoKY.gov.

The week ahead remains cold, with highs struggling to reach the 30s and sunny skies expected by Wednesday. Another chance of snow may develop Friday, though confidence in accumulation remains low.
