Paducah, KY – Travelers across western Kentucky should prepare for scattered showers and storm risks as weekend holiday travel picks up. A rainy Saturday evening could cause delays, while cooler temperatures by midweek will usher in a seasonal shift.
According to the National Weather Service, light showers will linger Friday morning but taper off briefly before a 40% chance of rain returns Saturday afternoon. Heavier showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely Saturday night, creating slippery road conditions on major routes, including Interstate 24. Southeast winds will reach 10–15 mph, with occasional gusts up to 23 mph.
By Sunday morning, rain will diminish, giving way to partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will remain mild through Monday, reaching highs near 61 degrees, but a cold front arriving Monday evening will drop overnight lows into the 30s. Rain chances will increase again on Tuesday, potentially disrupting New Year’s Eve plans.
Paducah residents should monitor weather updates, especially if traveling or planning outdoor activities this weekend. Drivers are urged to reduce speeds during rainy conditions to avoid hydroplaning, especially on wet highways.
The extended forecast predicts cooler weather by midweek, with Tuesday’s high near 54 degrees and lows dropping into the 20s by Wednesday night. The shift brings drier conditions for the first few days of 2024, but frost concerns could arise for early-morning commuters.
