Paducah, Ky. – Storms are set to return to western Kentucky and southeast Missouri late Sunday, bringing rounds of rain, thunder, and possible localized flooding into Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, showers and thunderstorms will develop Sunday afternoon across SEMO and west Kentucky, with activity intensifying into the evening and overnight hours. Numerous showers and some stronger storms are expected Monday, with the potential for lightning, gusty winds, and brief downpours.

Communities including Paducah, Murray, Mayfield, and Cape Girardeau could see heavy rain between Sunday night and early Monday, especially along U.S. Highway 60 and I-24 corridors. Drivers should watch for ponding on roadways and allow extra travel time during the Monday morning commute.

By Tuesday, warmer temperatures will return, with highs reaching the mid-80s by midweek. While storm chances will taper slightly, isolated showers and storms are still possible through Thursday, especially in areas near Pennyrile and southern Illinois.

Residents are urged to stay weather-aware through Monday, charge mobile devices in case of power outages, and avoid outdoor plans during peak storm hours.

More updates and advisories are expected as the storm system develops.
