Paducah, Kentucky – Scorching temperatures will grip western Kentucky through Friday, with Paducah residents facing highs near 96°F and heat indices up to 105°F.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. CDT Friday, impacting southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast Missouri. Prolonged heat exposure combined with high humidity can lead to heat-related illnesses — especially for those without air conditioning or working outdoors.

Local roads like I-24 and US-60 may see slower traffic during afternoon peak heat hours as drivers limit travel. Residents are urged to stay in air-conditioned spaces, drink fluids frequently, and avoid strenuous activity during midday. Symptoms like dizziness, rapid pulse, or headache may signal heat exhaustion or stroke — seek medical attention immediately.

Wednesday’s [DAY] high in Paducah is forecast near 94°F, followed by 96°F on Thursday and Friday, with overnight lows remaining in the mid-70s — offering little overnight relief. While brief storm chances may pop up midweek, they’ll be scattered and unlikely to significantly cool conditions.

This is the first prolonged heat stretch of the summer, increasing risks for vulnerable populations. Check on neighbors, especially the elderly, and never leave children or pets in parked cars.

Warnings remain in effect through Friday evening, and additional advisories may follow if the heat persists.
