Paducah, KY — The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for much of Kentucky, including Paducah, until 11 p.m. EDT tonight, with conditions ripe for strong storms and severe weather in many counties. This includes major cities such as Lexington, Frankfort, and Bowling Green, as well as rural areas throughout the state.

According to the NWS Storm Prediction Center, the watch affects 60 Kentucky counties, including Adair, Anderson, Bath, Bourbon, and Floyd, among others. The watch began at 7:25 p.m. EDT and remains in effect until 11 p.m. EDT.

The region is experiencing an increase in severe weather risks, with strong thunderstorms expected to produce damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and possibly large hail. Tornadoes are not anticipated, but isolated severe storms could cause localized flooding and downed trees. Residents are urged to remain weather-aware and take necessary precautions if planning to be outdoors this evening.

Additionally, rain chances are forecast to continue increasing through the week. The National Weather Service predicts widespread showers and storms starting Thursday, peaking Friday night through Sunday. Residents should prepare for heavy rainfall and storm risks continuing into the weekend.

Those in the watch area should monitor local news and weather alerts, and consider delaying travel or outdoor activities tonight.
