Paducah, KY – A series of severe storms is expected to impact Kentucky from late Friday evening through Easter Sunday, bringing threats of hail, strong winds, and potential tornadoes across much of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, KY, storm activity will begin Friday, April 18, during the evening hours and continue through Sunday, April 20. Each day presents different hazards, with Friday’s main risks including large hail and damaging winds, alongside a chance of a brief tornado. Areas from Poplar Bluff, MO, to Evansville, IN, may be particularly affected.

By Saturday, storms will shift focus to widespread damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall, mainly during the early afternoon to evening hours. Counties across western and central Kentucky, including Murray and Mayfield, should prepare for localized power outages or downed trees.

Sunday poses the greatest threat, with conditions favorable for tornadoes, large hail, and continued high winds. The most at-risk areas include Paducah, Owensboro, and Hopkinsville during the late afternoon and evening.

Residents are urged to monitor weather alerts and have a severe weather plan in place. Outdoor Easter plans may need adjusting, and mobile home residents should seek safer shelter if warnings are issued.
