Paducah, Kentucky – Severe thunderstorms could roll into parts of western Kentucky and southeast Missouri as early as Tuesday afternoon, threatening travel, utilities, and evening plans across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, stormy conditions are expected to develop Tuesday and persist through Thursday night. Portions of southeast Missouri, southwest Illinois, and far western Kentucky are at risk for damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and isolated severe storms, especially Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Cities like Paducah, Cape Girardeau, and Carbondale could see numerous rounds of showers and strong storms with daytime highs ranging from the low 80s to mid-80s through midweek. Key roadways, including Interstates 55 and 24, may face hazardous driving conditions during heavy downpours. Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items, charge mobile devices ahead of time, and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense weather.

This stretch of severe weather could bring several inches of rain and strong wind gusts, similar to April storms seen in past years. Conditions are expected to improve by Friday, but more advisories may be issued depending on how storms evolve midweek.

Warnings remain in effect through Thursday night, and updates will be posted as new information becomes available.
