Louisville, KY – Rain showers are sweeping across Kentucky today, followed by a strong cold front bringing snow and freezing temperatures tonight. Highs will stay mild in the mid-50s during the day, but temperatures will plummet into the 30s and 20s overnight, leading to potentially hazardous road conditions.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Louisville, rain will transition to snow late tonight, especially between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Although snow accumulation is expected to be minimal, slick spots could develop on untreated roads, particularly along I-65 and other major routes. Morning commuters on Wednesday are urged to drive cautiously and allow extra travel time.
Wednesday’s high will struggle to reach 38 degrees, with gusty winds making it feel much colder. Snow showers are likely in the morning and early afternoon before skies gradually clear. Wind chills will dip into the 20s, posing a risk of frostbite for those outdoors for extended periods.
Looking ahead, Thursday will bring sunshine, but highs will remain in the 30s. Temperatures will start to rebound Friday, reaching the mid-40s. By the weekend, highs will climb near 50 degrees, though scattered rain showers are possible Saturday night into Sunday.
Residents are advised to monitor local weather updates and prepare for colder conditions throughout the week. Keep an eye on elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses, as they are the most likely to freeze.
