Louisville, KY – Residents in Kentucky are urged to prepare for an active weather weekend, with rain, fog, and freezing temperatures making travel potentially hazardous. A patchy fog advisory remains in effect through Friday morning, followed by rain showers on Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service, tonight’s temperatures will drop to 27°F, creating conditions for refreezing on untreated roads and bridges. Residents west of Interstate 65 should exercise caution, especially in areas experiencing locally dense fog. Friday brings sunny skies with a high near 47°F, but rain will develop late Friday night into Saturday.

On Saturday, rain showers are expected before noon, transitioning to partly cloudy skies in the afternoon. Temperatures will peak near 44°F, with wind gusts reaching 9 mph. While rainfall totals are expected to remain light, untreated surfaces may become slick.

Sunday will see colder conditions with highs only reaching 25°F. Overnight lows on Sunday and into Martin Luther King Jr. Day will plummet to a frigid 5°F, bringing a stretch of bitterly cold weather to start the week.

Travelers are encouraged to monitor roadway updates through the Kentucky Department of Transportation and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of fog or icy conditions.
