Louisville, Kentucky – A stretch of warm, sunny days will give way to storms midweek as Louisville braces for rain and possible thunderstorms starting Wednesday night and lasting into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, a 30% chance of showers and storms will begin after 2 a.m. Wednesday night, increasing to 70% by Thursday afternoon. Temperatures will peak near 89°F Tuesday and Wednesday before dropping into the low 80s by Friday as cloud cover and moisture increase.

Parts of Jefferson County could see heavy downpours Thursday into Friday, with the strongest storms expected late Thursday. While no severe weather warnings are in effect yet, localized flooding and slick roads are possible—especially during afternoon commutes on Thursday and Friday.

Residents are advised to keep phones charged, monitor NOAA weather radio, and avoid travel during periods of heavy rain. Outdoor plans for late week should include backup options due to wet conditions.

More rain is likely Friday night into Saturday, with chances lingering around 50%. The next update from the NWS is expected early Wednesday morning.
