Paducah, KY — A dramatic shift in weather is expected in western Kentucky this week as a strong cold front moves through the region. Today’s temperatures will peak in the low 60s, but residents along I-24 should prepare for much cooler conditions by Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, highs on Tuesday will only reach 50 degrees, with overnight lows dipping into the mid-30s. Calm winds will add a chill to the air, but the week’s coldest temperatures are expected on Friday, when highs will hover in the low 40s and lows may drop to the mid-20s. Wind gusts of up to 25 mph will make Thanksgiving Day feel even colder.
Rain is likely today, with a 60% chance of showers expected by late afternoon. However, skies will clear tonight, leading to sunny conditions on Tuesday. Another weather system will bring a chance of rain on Wednesday, continuing through Thanksgiving Day. Residents traveling for the holiday should plan for reduced visibility and slippery road conditions, especially on I-24 and major local highways.
The National Weather Service also warns of a frigid start to December, with wind chills potentially reaching single digits next weekend. Community organizations are urging residents to check on vulnerable populations and prepare for extended periods of dangerous cold.
This week’s forecast:

• Wednesday: High 56°F, showers late.
• Thursday (Thanksgiving): High 47°F, gusty winds.
• Friday: High 42°F, sunny but cold.
