Jackson, KY – A stretch of warm, sunny days across Eastern Kentucky will give way to unsettled weather this weekend, with thunderstorms likely beginning Saturday and continuing through Sunday.

According to the US National Weather Service in Jackson, a strong surface high-pressure system will dominate the region through Friday, keeping skies mostly clear and temperatures climbing from the low 60s to the mid-80s. Morning frost is possible through Thursday, particularly in low-lying areas, before the warming trend peaks on Friday with highs between 77°F and 84°F.

A cold front is forecast to move into the area late Friday night, increasing the chance of showers and thunderstorms. Rain chances rise to 30-80% on Saturday and 30-90% on Sunday, with potential for locally heavy rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds. Storms are expected to be scattered, but residents should remain weather-aware throughout the weekend.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas may occur, and outdoor plans could be disrupted. Drivers are advised to monitor road conditions and use caution during periods of heavy rain.

Residents should secure outdoor items ahead of the front and prepare for rapid weather changes. Updates will be issued by the National Weather Service as conditions evolve.
