Jackson, KY – A late-season chill is gripping eastern Kentucky with a Freeze Warning in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday and another freeze risk overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, sub-freezing temperatures in the 25°F to 30°F range are expected again Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. A Freeze Watch is active from Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning. Residents, especially in the Jackson area and along KY Route 15, should protect plants, pipes, and pets from the cold.
Frost and freeze conditions may damage sensitive vegetation and unprotected plumbing. NWS advises covering outdoor plants and draining exposed pipes to prevent burst damage. Drivers should remain alert, especially during the early morning hours when slick spots may form in rural valleys.
Tuesday’s high will reach near 49°F with sunny skies, but temperatures will quickly drop after sunset. By Tuesday night, Jackson is forecast to see lows near 25°F under mostly clear skies.
