Paducah, Kentucky – Severe weather looms over western Kentucky as spring storms return Sunday and a flood warning remains active for Paducah through Tuesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, thunderstorms will redevelop late Sunday afternoon and continue into Sunday night, bringing heavy rainfall and renewed flood risk. The Ohio River remains above flood stage, currently at 46.6 feet, and will stay elevated through early Tuesday. Water levels are expected to drop below flood stage by Monday night but will remain dangerous until then. The warning covers areas along the Ohio River, including US-60 and major crossings in McCracken, Livingston, and Ballard counties.
Storms could pack gusts up to 22 mph Sunday night, with the potential for localized flooding. Residents are urged to avoid riverbanks and never attempt to drive across water-covered roads. “Turn around, don’t drown,” remains critical guidance from emergency officials.
Monday brings another chance of scattered thunderstorms with gusty winds and showers continuing into the evening. By Tuesday, Paducah will see clearing skies and warmer spring temperatures, but slick spots and flood-prone zones may linger.
