Louisville, Ky. – Strong to severe thunderstorms could sweep across Kentucky beginning Monday, with greater storm intensity expected by Tuesday evening, bringing large hail, damaging winds, and a chance of tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, a conditional threat exists Monday for locally gusty winds and isolated hail. However, the risk for more widespread severe weather grows Tuesday, especially across central and eastern Kentucky. The overall confidence in this outlook remains medium, but forecasters warn that large hail and 60+ mph wind gusts are possible, with isolated tornadoes not entirely off the table.

Communities from Bowling Green to Lexington and north toward Covington sit within a slight to enhanced risk zone on Tuesday. Metro areas including Louisville may experience scattered strong cells during the late afternoon into the evening commute. Downed trees, power outages, and hazardous driving conditions could accompany the storms.

Residents are urged to monitor weather alerts, secure outdoor items, and avoid non-essential travel during active warnings. Charge phones and prepare emergency kits in case of extended outages.

Storm chances continue into Tuesday night, with additional updates likely as confidence in timing and impacts improves.
