Cincinnati, Ohio – Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are bringing another round of wet roads and brief downpours across the Ohio Valley through tonight, with flooding concerns now easing in most areas. Rain will linger in eastern Ohio and the tri-state region until early Saturday, but drier, calmer weather is set to return by Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service Ohio River Forecast Center, a cold front is pushing eastward, keeping showers and some thunderstorms in the forecast through tonight. While locally heavy rain is possible, most storms are expected to remain unorganized, with no excessive rainfall totals. Flooding in western Kentucky and southeast Illinois is slowly subsiding, and higher river levels in southwest Indiana are also beginning to drop.
Drivers across Cincinnati, Louisville, Evansville, and along I-64 and I-70 should watch for wet pavement and isolated ponding in low-lying spots. Residents in communities near the Ohio River should continue monitoring river levels, but major flooding is not expected with this round of rain. With drier air moving in, much of the basin will see improving conditions by Saturday afternoon.
The National Weather Service notes that the threat for new flooding is low, but urges residents to stay alert for any lingering advisories. A stretch of sunny, mild weather is on tap for Sunday and Monday, with no additional rainfall expected.
