Kentucky Heat Advisory Issued as Independence Day Approaches

Louisville, KY – A Heat Advisory is in effect this afternoon and evening, with heat index values potentially reaching 109 degrees. According to the US National Weather Service in Louisville, scattered thunderstorms are expected by mid to late afternoon and continue into tonight, primarily affecting southern Indiana and central Kentucky. Some storms may produce strong gusty winds and torrential downpours.

Today’s forecast includes high temperatures between 90-95 degrees, with a 45% chance of thunderstorms by late afternoon. Independence Day is projected to be humid, with temperatures ranging from 85-92 degrees and scattered showers and storms likely. Friday will continue the trend with highs between 84-90 degrees and a significant likelihood of showers and storms.

Looking ahead, the weekend brings a mix of conditions. Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny with temperatures in the mid-80s, providing a brief respite from the stormy weather. Sunday will see a return of cloud cover and cooler temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s. Early next week, temperatures will rise slightly with highs in the low 80s on Monday and Tuesday, accompanied by partly cloudy skies and a chance of isolated showers. By mid-week, expect temperatures to remain in the low 80s with a continued chance of scattered thunderstorms.
