Paducah, KY — A freezing fog advisory is in effect for northwest Kentucky, including the Paducah area, from midnight to 9 a.m. Thursday. Freezing fog and subfreezing temperatures are expected to cause black ice on roads, bridges, and overpasses, making Thursday morning’s commute hazardous.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, visibility could drop to less than a quarter-mile, and slick conditions are likely on I-24 and other major roadways. Drivers are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and prepare for potential delays. Temperatures will remain near 14 degrees overnight before rising to a high of 36 on Thursday under sunny skies.

Thursday night, conditions shift as a winter storm approaches. Snow is expected to begin after midnight, with up to an inch possible by Friday morning. Friday will bring more significant snowfall, with up to 3 inches forecast, and a high near 33 degrees.

The five-day forecast shows clearing skies for the weekend, with highs in the mid-30s on Saturday and near 39 degrees on Sunday. However, another drop in temperatures is expected early next week, with lows falling into the teens by Monday.

Residents are advised to stay alert for updates and exercise caution during their morning commutes. Plan ahead for potential delays or disruptions as snow and icy conditions persist through Friday evening.
