Frankfort, KY – Dense fog blankets parts of Kentucky this morning, causing reduced visibility and hazardous travel conditions on major highways, including I-64. Commuters should exercise caution during their morning drive. The fog advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, remains in effect until 9 a.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, visibility is expected to drop to a quarter mile or less in areas, particularly along I-64 near Morehead and Clark County. Drivers are urged to reduce speeds, keep headlights on low beam, and maintain a safe following distance. The advisory includes Powell, Menifee, Montgomery, and Fleming counties, among others.
Conditions are expected to improve rapidly after sunrise as the dense fog dissipates. Clear skies and mild temperatures will follow for much of the state. Highs today will reach the mid-50s in cities like Louisville and Lexington.
Looking ahead, Kentucky residents can expect a mix of sunny and partly cloudy conditions through the weekend. Thursday will bring highs in the mid-40s with wind gusts up to 20 mph. Friday and Saturday will be sunny and cooler, with temperatures peaking around 50 degrees. By Sunday, warmer air returns, pushing highs into the 60s.
