Paducah, KY – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through midnight Saturday for areas along and north of the I-64 corridor. The advisory warns of light to moderate snow, with accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, and some spots seeing up to 4 inches. Drivers should anticipate slick roads as temperatures drop into the 20s by evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a clipper system will bring snow this afternoon and evening. Conditions are expected to worsen as freezing temperatures persist through Tuesday. While sunshine returns Sunday, highs will struggle to rise above the 30s, prolonging icy conditions on untreated roads, particularly where snow accumulates.
Travelers are urged to exercise caution and adjust plans accordingly. For those in southern Illinois and southwest Indiana, roads like I-64 and nearby highways may see hazardous travel conditions, especially overnight.
Looking ahead, a cold snap is forecast through midweek. Sunday will be sunny with highs near 40, but Monday and Tuesday will remain colder with highs in the mid-30s and lows dipping into the teens. Temperatures are expected to recover slightly by Wednesday, with highs reaching the low 50s.
Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts, bundle up during outdoor activities, and ensure vehicles are winter-ready.
