Louisville, KY – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for portions of Kentucky and Indiana. The advisory begins at 11 p.m. Wednesday and ends at 10 a.m. Thursday. Sub-zero wind chills as low as -5 degrees are forecast for areas of south-central Indiana and central to northwest Kentucky.

According to the NWS, dangerously low temperatures will make outdoor exposure hazardous. Frostbite and hypothermia are possible within minutes if proper precautions are not taken. Forecasters urge residents to limit outdoor activities and wear layered clothing that fully covers the skin.

Minimum temperatures are expected to range between 5 and 15 degrees Wednesday night, with wind chills falling below zero in many areas. The NWS advises keeping pets indoors and checking on vulnerable neighbors who may lack adequate heating.

Despite the freezing conditions, temperatures are projected to rebound by Friday. Daytime highs will climb into the low 30s, providing some relief from the Arctic blast. Residents can monitor updates on the NWS website for the latest weather forecasts and advisories.

Officials remind residents to stay indoors whenever possible, keep emergency kits handy, and use space heaters safely. They also recommend staying off icy roads and sidewalks to avoid accidents during the cold snap.

The advisory highlights the importance of preparation to ensure safety in extreme weather. Stay tuned for additional updates and plan ahead to stay warm and protected.
