Wichita, KS – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Wichita and surrounding areas until 6 p.m. Wednesday as snow and dangerously cold temperatures grip the region. Snowfall of up to three inches is expected today, with strong winds creating hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, additional snow accumulation will make roads slick, especially during the morning and evening commutes. Subzero wind chills, with values as low as -15°F, are expected overnight into Thursday morning, increasing the risk of frostbite for those exposed to the cold for prolonged periods.

Thursday will bring some relief with sunny skies, but temperatures will remain frigid, with a high near 28°F. Winds will ease slightly but remain breezy, making it feel even colder. By Friday, another storm system could bring fresh snowfall, potentially disrupting Valentine’s weekend plans.

Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution, especially on I-135 and I-35, where icy conditions are likely. Residents should dress in layers, limit outdoor exposure, and check road conditions by calling 511 before traveling.

Another round of winter weather is possible early next week, so stay tuned for updates.
